Pick of The Week #003
“Falling in love is one of the most exciting events in life”, says Nancy Van Pelt. Everyone wants to find true love, and life takes on a new meaning when it happens. Sudden energy surges through the system. New enthusiasm provides zest for the most boring tasks. Time is too short when you are together and far too long when you are apart. Life is good, and every look, touch, or hug takes on significant meaning, whether the source of your joy is a lady bear, a big bear or just a teddy bear like me. I believe we share a greater desire for connection in sharing and caring relationships, which springs from the heart of a God who first loved us. We love because He first loved us.
Getting involved in Total Member Involvement (TMI) is an opportunity to be part of something bigger than yourself. It’s a chance to contribute your time, skills, and heart to a cause that benefits everyone. Whether you’re helping locally, supporting your church, or reaching out to those in need, your participation matters and has the potential to change lives. Here are six reasons to put love into action and get involved:
1. Make a Lasting Impact in Your Community
By getting involved in TMI, you can actively contribute to positive change. Whether you’re helping people experiencing homelessness, teaching children, or engaging in local outreach, your actions will have a direct and lasting impact on those around you. You can become a force for good, improving the lives of individuals and strengthening the community.
2. Experience the Power of Unity and Purpose
TMI isn’t just about individual efforts; it’s about working together as a team to fulfil a common mission. By participating, you join a vibrant, diverse group of people committed to the same cause. Together, you can accomplish much more than you could alone, making the work more meaningful and enjoyable. This unity in action strengthens bonds and helps create a profound sense of belonging within the community, making you feel connected and part of something bigger.
3. Share the Love of Christ Through Action
Total Member Involvement is driven by love for one another, the community, and God. You’re not just offering your time or resources when you get involved. You are showing the love that Christ demonstrated to the world. By serving with compassion, you help reflect God’s love in practical ways that resonate with others.
4. Transform Lives – Including Your Own
When you serve others, you also grow spiritually and personally. Helping those in need, offering your skills, and engaging in service can deepen your faith and broaden your understanding of God’s love. It’s not just about transforming others; it’s about your own transformation as you grow in empathy, kindness, and purpose.
5. Be a Catalyst for Change
Even small actions can create a ripple effect. You contribute to a more significant movement of positive change by getting involved in TMI. Whether it’s feeding the hungry, providing emotional support, or simply being a listening ear, your involvement can inspire others to join the cause and multiply the impact.
6. Serve with Joy and Fulfilment
Serving others brings immense joy and fulfilment. There’s a unique satisfaction in knowing that your time and efforts have made a difference in someone else’s life. As you give, you’ll also receive a sense of purpose, gratitude, and peace that comes from knowing you’re living out your values and making the world a better place.
