23 July 2026

Stanborough Secondary School has paid tribute to Eileen Hussey, Assistant Headteacher, as she retires after 18 years of dedicated service to Adventist education.

Joining the school in September 2008, Eileen has faithfully served generations of students and colleagues, combining academic excellence with a deep commitment to Christian education. Reflecting on her years at the school, she described her journey as “a fulfilling experience – working with young people and serving God.”

Throughout her career, Eileen taught English Language and Literature and Business Studies, inspiring students to achieve their academic potential while nurturing their personal and spiritual development. In 2012, she was appointed Assistant Headteacher, a role in which she provided valued leadership, guidance and pastoral support to both staff and students.

During a special presentation marking her retirement, Lorraine McDonald, Education Director of the British Union Conference (BUC), presented Eileen with gifts on behalf of the BUC in recognition of her many years of faithful service to Adventist education and the Stanborough Secondary School community.

Accepting the gifts, Eileen expressed her appreciation for the support of the General Conference, Trans-European Division, British Union Conference and South England Conference in advancing Adventist education. She also thanked Lorraine McDonald, Jeanetta Liburd, the school’s Headteacher, her colleagues and the students for the encouragement, friendship and support they had shown throughout her ministry.

Eileen reaffirmed her lifelong commitment to Adventist education, saying:

“I believe in Adventist education and will always support it.”

She expressed the hope that every church member would recognise the importance of Adventist education and embrace Ellen G White’s well-known counsel:

“Higher than the highest human thought is God’s ideal for His children.”

This conviction has shaped her educational ministry and reflects her passion to help every young person discover and fulfil their God-given potential.

As she begins retirement, Eileen leaves behind a lasting legacy of faithful service, compassionate leadership and unwavering dedication to Christian education. Her influence will continue to be reflected in the lives of countless students, colleagues, parents and church members who have benefitted from her ministry over nearly two decades.

The British Union Conference extends its sincere appreciation to Eileen Hussey for her outstanding contribution to Adventist education and wishes her God’s richest blessings, good health and happiness as she enters this new chapter of life.
