With over 3,000 entries from 80 countries around the world, it is a true honour to be named the Michael O’Mara Award winner. We are blessed and delighted to announce that Stanborough Primary School has been awarded the Michael O’Mara Award at the Global Canvas 2025: David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation Art Competition.
The award ceremony highlighted Michael O’Mara’s praise for our entry, stating:
“This year, Michael O’Mara chose Stanborough Primary School as their winner. They shared the following on why this piece stood out to them:
‘They liked how their energy reflected the wildlife of the children’s local area. From red kites and field mice to butterflies and fungi, the children have clearly studied the plants and animals really closely, and their attention to detail in the drawings is so impressive. We love how you can spot something new each time you look at the entry. We thought this was a brilliant group effort with each child contributing something different to the collage. Well done to Stanborough Primary School.’”
This recognition is incredible, and we could not be prouder of our students, who poured their hearts and creativity into this meaningful project: Wildlife Through Our Eyes – The World is in Your Hands.

This year’s theme, ‘Coexistence – how can humans and wildlife live in harmony?’, is one that resonates deeply with us as a school; we sit within the 40 acres of Stanborough Park, surrounded by nature’s beauty and all of creation is part of God’s plan for us. God created this world with a perfect balance, where humans and wildlife can coexist harmoniously, each playing a vital role in the ecosystem. We give all thanks and glory to God for His beautiful creation and the opportunity to share our vision of coexistence through art. These words from the Bible inspired us, “And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so” (Genesis 1:24 KJV).

This verse beautifully reflects God’s intentional design for coexistence, in which every creature has its place and all living things are created in harmony.
The true essence of this award lies in our students’ dedication to capturing God’s creation. Each child contributed a unique element to our collage, reflecting their creativity and deep understanding of the diverse creatures that share our world. Through their artwork, they have honoured the beauty and intricacy of God’s design, showing how, just as He intended, humans and wildlife can coexist in a balanced and harmonious way.
