In an inspiring initiative to tackle health disparities within Islington’s communities, One Vision has united with Arsenal Football Club and Holloway Seventh-day Adventist Church to address health inequalities and build a stronger, more cohesive community. Led by Enoch Kanagaraj, Founder and Chief Executive of One Vision, this partnership is grounded in principles of compassion, service and commitment to health. Together, these organisations aim to provide essential support to individuals across all communities facing systemic health challenges.
A Shared Mission for Health, Hope and Community Cohesion
At the forefront of this mission are leaders from faith, health and sport, including Rev Dr Mario Philip, Senior Pastor of Holloway SDA Church, and Elder Dr Keith Davidson, author, publisher and consultant. Representing Arsenal FC, Adam Henry, Senior Manager of Sport, Health and Wellbeing, and Rhys Ratcliffe, Health and Wellbeing Manager, underscored the role sports organisations can play in improving community health. This collaboration brings together leaders committed not only to health improvement but also to fostering unity across faith and non-faith communities, creating a society where compassion and community care are central.
Holloway SDA Church has long prioritised integrating with the community, actively working to serve beyond its walls and aspiring to be a centre of influence. Rev Dr Mario Philip highlighted the church’s mission to reach all people, drawing on the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” He further emphasised the church’s commitment to compassionate service with the words of Christ in Matthew 25:40: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” This partnership allows Holloway SDA Church to live out these teachings by uniting with Arsenal and other organisations to serve the wider community in meaningful ways. By joining with One Vision and Arsenal, the church is expanding its outreach to create a lasting positive impact on community health and cohesion.
One Vision: A Ministry of Love and Compassion
Explaining the heart of the mission, Enoch Kanagaraj shared, One Vision is a ministry of love and compassion. We are called to serve everyone, recognising that all people, regardless of faith or background, are part of God’s creation. This message echoes the spirit of 1 Peter 4:10, which reminds us that “each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” Through partnerships like this, One Vision fulfils its calling to serve the community and share love in practical ways.
Arsenal HUB: A Hub for Health and Community Cohesion
The Arsenal HUB, known for its dedication to community health, has done exceptional work in preventive care, offering resources and education to tackle chronic health issues. Partnering with Adventist communities, the HUB has expanded its reach, creating an inclusive space that bridges differences and supports holistic wellbeing.
This proactive, inclusive approach to health and wellness aligns with the spirit of the Bible’s call to compassion and service, reflecting 3 John 1:2: “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” The HUB embodies this principle, working with One Vision to support the physical and spiritual needs of the community.
Looking Forward with Faith, Unity and Service
The partnership between One Vision, Arsenal FC, Holloway SDA Church and other interfaith and non-faith partners is far more than a collaborative effort; it is a mission to serve all people with love and compassion. Elder Dr Keith Davidson commented, We are called to a ministry of healing that goes beyond our church walls. By working with both faith and non-faith groups, we fulfil our mission to bind up the broken-hearted and create a community that reflects compassion and unity.
Pastor Kirk Thomas, President of the South England Conference, reminds us of the boundless possibilities when we answer God’s call, stating, God has called us to greater exploits for Him, bigger than we can dream or imagine. These rousing words from Dr Thomas serve as an invitation to embrace a vision beyond what we may initially consider achievable. His words inspire each partner involved in this initiative to pursue a vision that reflects God’s love and care for every individual and community.
This initiative is a testament to the Adventist commitment to health, faith and unity. It reflects Christ’s teachings to love and serve beyond boundaries, offering practical support that uplifts both physical and spiritual wellbeing. As a centre of influence, Holloway SDA Church, along with One Vision and Arsenal FC, is not only improving health outcomes but also strengthening bonds across communities. United by compassion, they are building a healthier, more inclusive future for all.
