As part of the British Union Conference’s commitment to transparency, engagement, and meaningful participation, several new initiatives have been introduced for the 2026 BUC Session. These enhancements are designed to strengthen communication, encourage informed discussion, support delegate wellbeing, and create opportunities for reflection on the future mission of the Church.
Mission Presidents’ Reports
For the first time, dedicated programme time has been allocated for the Presidents of the Irish Mission, Scottish Mission, and Welsh Mission to present reports from their respective fields.
These presentations will give delegates greater insight into the ministry, opportunities, and challenges within each Mission, while highlighting the diverse ways God is working across the British Union territory.
Ministry Care Support
Recognising the importance of emotional and spiritual wellbeing, two psychologists from Ministry Care will be available throughout the Session to provide confidential support, a listening ear, and professional guidance for delegates and attendees.
Their presence reflects the BUC’s commitment to caring for the whole person and fostering a healthy, supportive, and Christ-centred Session environment.
Big Themes
New to this Session is the introduction of a series of Big Themes, designed to encourage thoughtful reflection on some of the key opportunities and challenges facing the Church today.
These discussions will move beyond governance and routine reporting to explore issues that influence mission, discipleship, leadership, communication, connection, and the future of the Church within the contemporary context of the UK and Ireland.
It is hoped that these conversations will inspire fresh thinking, stimulate meaningful dialogue, and encourage delegates to consider how the Church can continue to fulfil its mission faithfully and effectively for future generations.
Code of Conduct
As we gather for Session, we are mindful that one of our organisational priorities is Reflecting Christ.
Throughout our time together, we want every interaction – with hotel staff, fellow delegates, invited guests, and members of the public – to demonstrate the values of Christ and the credible witness of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Delegates are therefore encouraged to conduct themselves with kindness, patience, respect, integrity, and Christian courtesy in every setting, including registration, hotel check-in, worship services, business sessions, mealtimes, informal conversations, and all interactions throughout the venue.
May our conduct consistently reflect the faith we profess as together we seek to Walk. Love. Do. throughout the Session.
Submit Questions to Directors
Delegates are reminded that questions for BUC Directors can now be submitted through the Session website ahead of the Business Sessions.
This new feature has been introduced to encourage informed discussion, increase transparency, and provide Directors with an opportunity to respond thoughtfully to questions and requests for clarification before their scheduled presentations.
Deadline for submitting questions: Friday 26 June 2026.
