NEC APPROVES DRAFT CONSTITUTION FOR SESSION

The North England Conference Executive Committee has approved a version of the proposed new NEC Constitution to present at the NEC Session, which will run from Wednesday 8 to Friday 10 September. More than two years in the making, the latest version is draft 37, which gives an idea of the amount of work that has gone into producing and refining the document.

Delegates at the session will be allowed some leeway with the final document, in relation to the total number of delegates allowed at future sessions, and the number of representatives from the BUC who will be included with the NEC Executive Committee. After these matters have been debated and decided upon, the whole constitution will be discussed, then voted up or down. A two-thirds majority will be needed to approve the new constitution.

The proposed new NEC Constitution includes many changes which will bring it in to line with the General Conference and UK Charity Law, as well as making provision for a virtual session, should one ever be needed in the future.
