Messenger 10
Two themes run through this edition: the first, a fascinating front cover illustration about our relationship to what we know, and what we think we know – worth pausing and musing over, pivoting in with the Sabbath School lesson theme (page 7). Our second theme continues to relate to the COVID-19 crisis.
Two General Conference presidents, the current and the former, share some thoughts about how to respond to the crises of our time (pages 2 and 5). The editor muses over the message to the church in Sardis. There is only one possible response (page 3). Moira Surridge and Alex Cushney share life on the front line – in the ‘Red Zone’ (page 4). Andrea Luxton reviews some academic insights about ‘God’s Character and the Last Generation’ (pages 8 & 9). Ron Edwards writes about being ‘ready now’ (page 10). Cathy Boldeau explains what it means to ‘Stay, spray, play, pray’. Where is justice in a pandemic? (Page 11.) For the ‘Long Read’, Steve Logan asks Llew Edwards: ‘Where can they go to see the Kingdom of God?’ – the penultimate excerpt of Llew Edwards’ Values-led Lives (pages 12 & 13). There’s still some news to share on pages 15, 16 and 17. ‘Almost Home’, a fitting reflection by Harry Wilby for VE day.
For sure, hoping whatever you find will spur you on to greater service for His kingdom.
If there’s an issue we report on that stirs you, write a letter; create a conversation; and, if there’s really something on your mind that would bless fellow readers, why not write an article for Messenger?
