When Pastor Sam Davis concluded his service as President of the South England Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, many assumed retirement would bring a slower pace. Instead, he and his wife, Rowena, have started a new chapter of ministry that is transforming lives in Southern Spain.
The couple now reside on several acres of farmland, where they conduct hands-on health and lifestyle programmes. These programmes, which include plant-based cooking classes, fitness walks, and Bible-based health talks, are designed to provide practical training and spiritual encouragement. Guests are welcomed into a natural setting filled with fruit trees and vegetable gardens, where they learn to embrace healthier routines.
“It’s not just theory,” Rowena explains. “People engage in hands-on learning and leave with fresh insights to make lasting changes.” The testimonies have been uplifting, with many sharing improved health, increased energy, and a more profound sense of purpose.
Marriage Enrichment
More recently, the Davises have broadened their ministry to include Marriage Enrichment retreats. The concept emerged after they recognised the challenges faced by couples, some of whom they knew personally. “We realised that good health isn’t solely about the body,” Pastor Davis reflects. “It’s also about relationships. A strong marriage is essential for emotional and spiritual well-being.”
Through workshops, guided discussions, and periods of reflection, couples are encouraged to enhance communication, rebuild trust, and reignite intimacy.
Faith in Action
Although his leadership role has shifted, Pastor Davis maintains that the calling is unchanged: “This is ministry – just in a different context. We’re witnessing lives transformed here physically, emotionally, and spiritually.”
The couple also finds their own faith deepened. “Every retreat and seminar serves as a reminder that God still has work for us to do,” Rowena shares, a sentiment that resonates with many in their own spiritual journeys.
Looking Ahead
As the ministry expands, the Davises look forward to welcoming more individuals, families, and couples seeking improved health and stronger relationships. Their farm has evolved into a sanctuary of learning, healing, and renewal – a living evidence that retirement can mark the beginning of something new and hopeful.
Pastor Davis concludes with optimism: “Whatever your stage in life, there is always room for growth – in health, in relationships, and in faith. Our prayer is that people will discover the tools and encouragement to live life to the fullest.”
