Education Day – 25 March 2023

Lorraine McDonald, BUC Education Director

From humble beginnings in 1858, the work of Seventh-day Adventist education has gone on from strength to strength. Though Adventists advocated primary education for children during the 1850s and 1860s, it was not until the early 1870s that the newly budding Seventh-day Adventist Church began to recognise and develop a denominationally based school system.

Today we have 9,500 institutions in 150 countries, with over 111,000 educators teaching more than 2 million students daily. The Seventh-day Adventist Church runs the world's most extensive Protestant education system. It all started with people willing to sacrifice and give to see young people educated with a two-fold purpose: practical education leading to academic excellence and redemptive outcomes. The issue has always been, and continues to be, the need for financial support.

Since 1919, Adventist education has been a part of the Church's in-reach and outreach strategy in the UK. Like every other school in the country, the need to remain relevant and provide the latest resources to assist in delivering the best outcomes for pupils continues to be a challenge. The vision for Adventist schools in the UK is to enable pupils to have access, where possible, to the best in terms of technology, quality literature, outdoor provision, sports equipment, dining facilities and much more. Can you assist us?

25 March 2023 is your opportunity to facilitate a variety of such projects. Will you support us in achieving our goal of raising standards and facilities? You can contribute to this world-renowned education system. Watch the following video to find out how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjSS7qLqbYI
