We are saddened to learn of the death of Peter John Archer, who passed away peacefully on 7 December 2024.
Peter was born in Watford on 28 May 1940 and spent his childhood attending Stanborough Junior and Senior Schools. On 19 March 1967, he married his beloved Rosemary, and together they had two children, Sarah and David. Peter held his family close to his heart and cared for them deeply.
Peter began working in denominational employment in July 1959, joining his cherished Granose Foods. He would later rise to the position of managing director and go on to serve for a total of 31 years. A keen gardener, his career took a new turn in 1996 when he returned to denominational service as the grounds and maintenance manager of the Stanborough Park estate. There, he continued to serve with the same dedication and pride, enjoying the work and the community which he was part of. His determined spirit ensured that he always got the job done, no matter the challenge, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand.
He was a calm, gentle, and composed individual who touched the lives of many. Whether it was through his dedicated work at Granose Foods Ltd, his later years at Stanborough Park or his faithful, sincere ministry as elder and head deacon at the St Albans Church, Peter took great pride in his work, ministry and gardening. His legacy is one of love, hard work and, not least, a life of faith lived with a quiet confidence that God is good.
Peter’s dedicated service spanned an impressive 40 years, culminating in his retirement in May 2005. He leaves a family who adored him and a community that respected him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, and he is dearly missed.
We extend our deepest condolences to Rosemary, Sarah, David and his wife Andrea, grandchildren Megan and Matthew, and the entire family. May they find comfort in their cherished memories, the sweet peace and comfort of God, and the loving support of their family, friends and community during this difficult time.
We look forward to Christ's soon return on that glorious resurrection day, in the hope of a wonderful reunion ( 1 Thess 4:13-18). It won’t be long …
The funeral will take place on 8 January 2025 at 11 am, at the St Albans SDA Church.
