Croydon Seventh-day Adventist Church Honoured as a ‘Centre of Hope, Health and Healing’

In a Spirit-filled and celebratory ceremony on Sabbath, 17 May, Croydon Seventh-day Adventist church was officially recognised as a ‘Centre of Hope, Health and Healing’. This significant honour celebrates the church’s long-standing and holistic commitment to outreach, compassion, and community service in Croydon and the surrounding areas.

The award was presented by Sharon Platt-McDonald, Director of the British Union Conference Health Ministries Department. In her address, Platt-McDonald highlighted the church’s consistent focus on physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing through its various ministries, community programmes, and health initiatives. “Croydon church is a shining example of what it means to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus,” she noted. “Their dedication reflects the heart of true Christian service – restoring hope, promoting healing, and championing holistic health.”

Adding to the occasion, the mayor of Croydon graced the event. He participated in a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony, affirming the church’s vital role in strengthening community bonds and enhancing the wellbeing of residents across the borough.

For years, Croydon Seventh-day Adventist church has been a beacon in the local community, offering support through food banks, mental health seminars, youth empowerment programmes, family workshops, and health expos. This recognition is a tribute to the power of faith in action and the enduring impact of love-driven service.

Speaking on behalf of the church, the pastors expressed heartfelt gratitude: “We thank God for this honour, for providing us with the resources and passion to serve. We are committed to continuing this work, showing His love in practical, transformative ways to all those around us.”

As the church celebrated this milestone, there was a renewed sense of purpose and unity – a reminder that every act of kindness sows a seed of hope, and every life touched is a life changed.
