This year, the #AdventistChurch will celebrate 160 years–and you’re invited!
It was 160 years ago, two years into the American Civil War, 20 believers from churches around the Midwest and Northeast gathered in Battle Creek, Michigan. They gathered to organize a General Conference which would begin what has now grown into a worldwide congregation of over 22 million members today.
Their purpose: unity, identity, and mission. Because of the dedication of these 20 people, the Seventh-day Adventist Church has taken the Three Angel’s Message to the world for 160 years.
If the Adventist mission has impacted your life, we’d love to hear from you. Share your experience in the comments.

1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (ESV).
The pioneers who gathered 160 years ago to organize the Seventh-day Adventist Church gathered under one identity–one of God’s chosen people, His last day Remnant Church (Revelation 12:17).
Join us in celebrating 160 years of identity as a Church as we remember we are Chosen for Mission.
Jesus, when praying among His disciples, said of believers, “That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me” (John 17:21, ESV). Jesus prayed for unity among believers, and the pioneers who gathered 160 years ago to organize the Seventh-day Adventist Church, gathered with this in mind–to unite under one name, organization, and mission. Join us in celebrating 160 years of unity as a Church as we remember we are Chosen for Mission.
When Jesus stood among His friends and followers and uttered the Great Commission to them, He entrusted something of great importance (Matthew 28).
This commission was carried into a church house in Battle Creek, Michigan, when 20 believers gathered to organize the Seventh-day Adventist Church on May 21, 1963.
Today, this mission is carried still by God’s Church, as we enter our 161st year #ChosenForMission.
