“…and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days” (Joel 2:29, NKJV).
On Sunday, 7 December, the British Union Conference (BUC) Women’s Ministries Department hosted a 30th Anniversary Celebration, marking three decades since the official commencement of Women’s Ministries globally. This significant milestone event celebrated the advancement of the ministry, acknowledged God’s leading, recognised women making a positive impact in their communities, and sought divine guidance for the years ahead.
Joel 2:29 was chosen as the foundational scripture underpinning BUC Women’s Ministries’ work in recent years, with a focus on the Holy Spirit’s gifting and work in the lives of women. As the ministry reflected on this powerful promise, it became evident how the Holy Spirit has led the global work of Women’s Ministries over the past 30 years – transforming lives, strengthening families, and blessing communities. Through programmes, projects, and initiatives, the ministry has contributed to thousands of baptisms and the reclaiming of members worldwide.

The celebratory evening was co-hosted by Dr Gina Miller, North England Conference Women’s Ministries Director, alongside Sharon Platt-McDonald, BUC Women’s Ministries Director. The programme opened with a special welcome video from Pastor Sylvia Mendez, Trans-European Division Women’s Ministries Director, setting a spiritually uplifting tone for the evening.
Programme highlights included a moving address by keynote speaker Brenda Walsh, recognition of past and present Women’s Ministries leaders across the BUC, a presentation of a 30-year timeline of Women’s Ministries, notable ministry milestones, and the spotlighting of BUC women making a positive difference in their communities. A lighter segment featuring photographs of BUC team members spanning 30 years brought warmth and shared memories to the celebration.
Several encouraging comments were received regarding the event, for which praise is given to God. In a short interview, departmental secretary Jackie Ramharacksingh shared her reflections.
Reflecting on the preparations, she described the experience as humbling, particularly the opportunity to design promotional materials, certificates, and gifts for women across the UK and Ireland who were not expecting recognition. For many, the appreciation came at the end of a demanding year, and the responses received were gracious and deeply moving.
Highlighting the programme itself, she noted how inspiring it was to hear of the varied, purposeful, and at times groundbreaking achievements shared during the spotlighting section. This added a personal and connected dimension to the gathering. She also reflected on the music and worship items, which were thoughtfully selected and powerfully reinforced the programme’s spirit.
Speaking of the keynote address, she described Brenda Walsh as “God’s choice,” noting her ability to engage the audience, share her journey, and challenge perspectives on women’s issues with clarity and conviction.

As part of the anniversary celebration, the BUC Women’s Ministries Department awarded certificates to several individuals nominated for their impactful contributions to Women’s Ministries. These acknowledgements served as a reminder of the faithfulness and dedication of women serving across the Union.

The department remains grateful to God for His leading over the past 30 years, and invites continued prayer as this ministry moves forward, committed to serving faithfully and empowering women for Christ.
