The BUC Stewardship Working Group (B-Stew) is pleased to announce the launch of The Stewardship Snapshot, the first Union-wide Giving Survey and Combined Offering Consultation. This initiative will officially begin on World Stewardship Day, Sabbath 6 December.
The purpose of this project is twofold:
1. To gather meaningful data on giving trends across the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the UK and Ireland.
2. To encourage member participation in local and virtual focus groups discussing offerings, Gift Aid, accountability, and related Stewardship topics.
On World Stewardship Day, members will be able to view a pre-recorded programme on BUC TV featuring Stewardship Directors from the TED, BUC, and SEC, as well as the BUC Treasurer. In addition, the BUC and SEC Stewardship Directors will appear live on Adventist Radio London at 3:00 pm for the formal launch.
Why conduct a survey and consultation now?
Our focus is on understanding how best to support the mission through the funds entrusted to the Church. Meaningful planning for mission over the coming decades requires accurate, representative data from a wide range of demographics across our field.
Most members of the B-Stew team – comprising Stewardship Directors and Sponsors from across the Union territory, together with advisory members Wederly Aguiar (BUC Treasurer) and Pastor David Neal (TED Stewardship Director) – have been in post for approximately 18 months. It was collectively agreed that this is an ideal time to conduct a comprehensive survey and consultation to inform future strategy.
How long will the survey run?
The Stewardship Snapshot will run for four months, concluding on Sabbath 28 March. All church members and regular attendees are invited to participate anonymously.
In addition to the general survey, individuals wishing to share their views with their names attached may join regional in-person focus groups or virtual discussion sessions.
There will also be separate surveys explicitly designed for pastors and treasurers.
Reporting, Accountability and Transparency
At the close of the survey, all data, along with insights from the focus groups, will be compiled and analysed. Working alongside an independent consultant, the B-Stew team will prepare a comprehensive report, scheduled for release at the end of June 2026.
This process ensures:
· Timely reporting of findings
· Independent, unbiased handling of qualitative data
· Appropriate benchmarking to inform future Stewardship strategy
BUC Stewardship Director Catherine Anthony Boldeau said:
“After many months of praying, planning, and preparing, the team is ready to launch the survey and consultation. My sincere gratitude goes to everyone on the team for their contributions – especially Pastor Alex Mareniuc, SEC Stewardship Director, for leading on several key aspects of the project, and Carl Arit, Stewardship Media Assistant, for his technical expertise.”
How can I access the survey?
The survey will be available from 6 December via a QR code, with further details shared with pastors over the coming weeks. Information will also be available on the Stewardship department websites from 4 December.
