British Union Conference Releases New Podcast

Catherine Anthony Boldeau, BUC Director of Stewardship

Passion: An Easter Story is brought to you by the British Union Conference (BUC) Stewardship department.  This reflective podcast tells the story of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, through the eyes of Mary, the mother of Jesus, a young child called Miriam and Caiaphas, the high priest.  Through monologue and music, it explores the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ and invites those who are seeking to try Jesus Christ.

The podcast was originally created for the BUC Youth department by the writer, 14 years ago as part of the I-Change Youth Congress in 2011 and was produced as a CD for distribution at their Sabbath Impact programme.

BUC Director for Health, Women’s Ministries and Adventist Community Services, Sharon Platt-McDonald, who plays Mary, reflected on her experience and said,

“Playing Mary, the mother of Jesus, was an insightful and sobering experience.

“The creatively crafted narrative enabled me to depict how Mary could have felt observing her Son dying on the cross at the hands of cruel Romans.

“I wanted to bring out the emotion of the moment, but also the agony as she reflected on Jesus’ impactful ministry coming to a brutal end through this torturous form of capital punishment.

“It was Mary, presenting the innocent Jesus to the world; the broken-hearted mother’s plea at the injustice of what was taking place. Yet, we could also sense the surrender of her Son, for the salvation of mankind, that God’s will would be accomplished.

“It was the tension between the harsh reality of loss and the acceptance of divine purpose.”

Passion is now streaming on all major podcast platforms.  Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and wherever you tune in. It is also available on BUC TV. It is also available on BUC TV.
